The 2018 Ken and Julie Michael Prize has been awarded to Ahmed Elagali (ICRAR-UWA) and Sam McSweeney (ICRAR-Curtin) for their respective PhD research. The prize was presented last Thursday by The Honourable Dave Kelly MLA, WA Minister for Science, in a ceremony at ICRAR-Curtin.

Congratulations also to Ahmed and Sam’s supervisors; Dr Ivy Wong, Dr Claudia Lagos, & Prof. Lister Staveley-Smith (Ahmed) and Dr Ramesh Bhat, Dr Steven Tremblay, & Prof. Avinash Deshpande (Sam).

Ahmed’s thesis is titled Studies of Interacting Galaxies & the Environmental Effects on Their Evolution and Sam’s thesis is titled Three-dimensional tomography of pulsar magnetospheres.

Thanks to The Honourable Ken Michael AC for his generous support for this Prize, first awarded in 2017 to Chenoa Tremblay and Tristan Reynolds.
