Meeting Venue

The WALLABY Busy Week will be held at ICRAR’s UWA node located in the Ken & Julie Michael Building right next to the University of Western Australia’s Crawley campus. The street address is 7 Fairway, Crawley WA 6009.

Transportation

Airport

Perth airport is located about 15 km from the city centre. The easiest and fastest method of getting to the city is by taxi. Taxis are readily available and usually waiting at the taxi rank outside the terminal building. Alternatively, bus lines 40 (terminals 3 & 4) and 380 (terminals 1 & 2) directly connect the airport with Elisabeth Quay Bus Station in the city.

UWA

Bus lines 23, 102, 107 and 950 connect the city centre of Perth (including the Elizabeth Quay Bus Station, platform B, stand B1) with the main UWA campus. Buses will take about 10–20 minutes (depending on traffic) and run frequently (every 2–3 minutes) during weekday peak hours, somewhat less frequently during the day and later in the evening. Note that Monday, 2 March 2020, will be a public holiday and buses will operate on a reduced schedule. Please see the website of Transperth for detailed information on timetables and tickets.

Bicycle rentals are also possible in Perth. There is an excellent cycling track running along the Swan River that directly connects UWA to the city and will take about 20–30 minutes depending on form. Note that daytime temperatures in early March can reach 40 °C, although it is often much cooler and actually quite pleasant in the morning and evening thanks to the sea breeze.

Accommodation

A range of different hotels is available throughout the city with excellent access to shops, restaurants, cafés and public transport. It is generally recommended to book hotel accommodation as early as possible, as room rates can soar during times of high demand.
