Our researchers are also visiting schools across the metro area. UWA’s Elisabete Da Cunha will be speaking at St Stephen’s School on August 13th. Luke Davies will be speaking at Willetton SHS on the 13th, while Kevin Vinsen, Arthur Filoche and Fuling Chen from our Data Intensive Astronomy team will be at Willetton Primary on the 14th. AusSRC’s Karen Lee-Waddell will be joining North Morley Primary for the day on the 15th.
In addition, teachers from across the country will hear from ICRAR PhD candidate and science communicator Angie Waszewski as part of Mission: SPACE, a ‘virtual excursion’ delivered by Scitech in collaboration with the Australian Space Agency.
Meanwhile, ICRAR’s Communications and Engagement team will be visiting communities across the Midwest. We’ll be running community telescope nights and bringing a portable planetarium and guest speaker Ruby Wright to Morowa, Mullewa, Yalgoo, Cue and Mount Magnet throughout Science Week. These regional events would not be possible without a generous grant from Inspiring WA. Read more and find an event near you here.
