Professor Peter Quinn, founder and first executive director of ICRAR, has been awarded a Chancellor’s Medal during The University of Western Australia’s winter graduation ceremonies this July.
Professor Quinn is a pioneering astrophysicist and space science leader, and currently chair of the International Space Centre at UWA.
The Chancellor’s Medal celebrates his outstanding and enduring contributions to UWA and the broader scientific community. His career has been marked by groundbreaking contributions to astrophysics, including his instrumental role in establishing the Square Kilometre Array in Western Australia—the world’s largest and most sophisticated radio telescope.
In 2024, Professor Quinn was also inducted into the WA Science Hall of Fame, recognising his sustained excellence and impact in the field of space discovery and research.
