Towards the Direct Imaging of Exoplanets
I am a UWA master of mechanical engineering student working on my thesis project to improve optical interferometry. Optical interferometry has been done before, but was drastically compromised due to lack in technology and had no advantage over radio interferometry. Thanks to many advancements in technology and the work done by others at ICRAR it should now be possible to take optical interferometry to the next level. Giving us the ability to view distances as far as the SKA can but with far greater resolution.
